Shall We Dance, One More Time?
Tomorrow is the day. Many people have emailed me saying how much they are looking forward to this. So am I. I hope everyone has a great time reconnecting with some long lost friends and some long lost music. I plan on spending the majority of my time hanging around the dance floor as I always did.
I have decided not to hand out copies of the slide show, as this would have been a big pain. I will have the entire slide show dumped onto photobucket.com, so anyone can view it and download any pictures they like. That's the easiest way to handle that.
And we will have a place on photobucket.com for anyone to upload their pictures from the event, for the same reasons. All hail the internet.
It has been my pleasure to help organize this event, but by no means can I take credit for it all coming together. Thanks must go out first and foremost to Mr. Matt Pinfield who suggested we do this in the first place. Without him, none of this would have happened, and the Melody would not have been what it was, or worth reuniting over.
Thanks also to Bruce at the Loop for hosting our event, please remember to buy a drink or two to show your appreciation.
Thanks also to Ed Wong, Pat Pierson, and Sean Carolan for everything they have done and will be doing tomorrow.
Finally, thanks to everyone who is so fired up for this event, it is ultimately all of you who made the scene back in the day so special and who are going to make tomorrow so much fun.
Shall we dance one more time? I think we should.
Now where are those boots??

The promise of this event was completely and utterly fulfilled. It was a KICKIN' party, the music took you RIGHT back to that early alt era of mid-80s to early 90s, and I swear, if you closed your eyes (and imagined being overwhelmed by cigarette smoke), you'd have thought you were back at the Mel. Not to mention, the turnout was phenomenal. If you missed it, have no fear...the buzz is that the event was such a success, it may become an annual happening.
The strangest thing? It started at 5pm. By 8pm, the dance floor was crammed to the rafters. You just had to pretend it was 5 hours later. We even stopped at the diner on the way home and pretended it was our 2am breakfast pitstop. A completely surreal evening.
I took lots of pix with Sean's camera...looking forward to seeing them online and to hearing everyone else's comments.
Just then it hit me...I was at the Melody!
Doctor Biceptz...whatever you run for, you have my vote. The plan came together exactly as you predicted and no one can argue that it could be have been better run any other way.
It was the perfect crowd and the perfect music along with an amazing slide show, cool banners, and a wonderful venue. Talk about a place that had the Melody look and feel! I got goose bumps when I realized that I wasn't just celebrating the Melody, I was actually reliving it.
Thanks to everyone for being yourselves, and thanks again Stiffy for putting together the night (or should I say "afternoon"?).
A world full of weirdos...yes it was wonderful!!!!!
What an aweseome night! Better than I expected it to be and I was expecting greatness from the get go! Many many thanks to Stiffy.
Great to see all those faces again, rock out to the tunes like back in the day and in such a fitting and similar setting. All hail Dr. Biceptz...
