Equatorial Latitude

Today's lesson involves the art of balancing equations. The idea's simple, really: take two artists that have something in common, and figure out what you'd have to add or subtract from one to make them match the other. Then tie it all up with algebraic notation. Extra credit is given for cattiness, of course.
 
For instance:
 
Barenaked Ladies = They Might Be Giants - Tom Lehrer + Tom Chapin
 
And also:
 
Train (you know, they do "Drops Of Jupiter") = Elton John - Bernie Taupin
 
And then:
 
Dave Matthews = Peter Gabriel + A Sinus Infection
 
And it goes without saying that:
 
Rob Thomas = Cher
